Tables filling fast: New restaurant proves a hit
Things have been moving fast since Restaurant BRIX opened its historic corner doors at C. W. Obels Plads six weeks ago.
Despite the season, the newly renovated premises have been packed with guests, and the strong interest has exceeded the owners’ expectations.
“We’ve been fully booked almost every day. And we’ve already had guests returning multiple times,” says owner Danny Friis, who also notes that word-of-mouth has quickly made an impact.
“We’ve had several guests tell us they were recommended to come here by friends and family, and that makes us both happy and proud,” he adds.
It’s not just the food receiving praise—the service is as well.
At Restaurant BRIX, the service is both professional and down-to-earth.
“It’s important for us to meet our guests at eye level, and I think we do that well,” says Danny Friis, adding:
“We’re very fortunate to have—and proud of—our staff. Both in the kitchen and on the floor. They’re ultimately the ones who make our ambitions possible and ensure our guests have a great experience.”

Last Saturday, the restaurant was completely sold out, with several guests turned away at the door—only to return later in the day.
Behind the success is a clear concept: homemade Danish food of high quality at prices most people can afford.
Everything is made from scratch—from crispbread to cakes—and all ingredients are carefully selected for quality.
In the kitchen, everything is pickled, baked, mixed, and prepared the traditional Danish way.
“We feel proud when our guests tell us they can both see and taste that our bread is fresh and homemade—and the same goes for our dishes, pickled items, and cold sauces. Our homemade fried herring has also received a lot of attention,” says Danny Friis.
At Restaurant BRIX, you can choose between a classic lunch buffet, à la carte dishes, open sandwiches, and four-course evening menus with a wine buffet.

On Tuesdays, they offer “all-you-can-eat hash” (biksemad) for 169 DKK, including fried eggs and everything that comes with it.
“It’s important to us that you can walk in on a weekday evening and enjoy a great meal without breaking the bank. Of course, you’re also welcome to treat yourself—start with champagne and caviar, go for the full wine menu, and finish with dessert and coffee,” says Danny Friis.
In other words, there’s something for everyone—and the concept is already expanding.
Events, private dining, and outdoor service
Looking ahead, the restaurant has several new initiatives in the pipeline.
From the end of April, there are plans to extend the lunch buffet to Sundays, and more events are on the way—including wine tastings.
“We’ve had many groups asking for Sunday lunch and events in general, so we want to explore that,” says Danny Friis.
Wine plays a central role at the restaurant.
Danny himself is trained as a waiter, sommelier, and wine expert, and BRIX offers between 150 and 200 wines at reasonable prices.
The ambition is to make good wine more accessible, using an unconventional pricing model with fixed markups instead of high margins.

Now, the owner also wants to share his knowledge.
“Wine shouldn’t be snobbish. It should be fun and enjoyable. That’s why our tastings will be for both beginners and more experienced wine enthusiasts,” he says.
Ready for outdoor dining
At the same time, BRIX is looking forward to the outdoor season.
With space for up to 150 guests on the terrace, preparations are underway as spring begins to take hold.
The first sunny days last week already brought a busy terrace, with guests stopping by to enjoy food, snacks, and drinks in the sun.
This month, the restaurant is also running special drink offers on the terrace every day from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Among the deals, you can get a half-litre of Albani draft beer for 40 DKK, cocktails for 75 DKK, and selected wines by the glass for 50 DKK.
“I’m currently working on getting power out here so we can install a draft beer system and add heating to the parasols,” says Danny.
Danny runs the restaurant together with his wife Ninna and her sister Louise.
What they all have in common is a love for new ideas.
But despite the many ideas, the direction is clear: Restaurant BRIX serves homemade Danish food at eye level—with a modern twist and at prices everyone can afford.
