News in the city center: Popular café expands with large rooftop terrace

Kochs Kaffebar has been serving coffee, baked goods, and cozy vibes on Algade since 2013.
In 2014, they expanded to the first floor, and in 2018, the café underwent a major makeover, which included the addition of a small rooftop terrace.
Now, the popular café is ready with a major – and spacious – summer update.
Owner Jesper Holm Andersen and his team have been working at full speed to build a brand-new rooftop terrace measuring no less than 75 sqm – with space for nearly 50 seated guests.

“There has actually always been a private terrace here, but we were given permission to build a completely new one, which will now benefit our guests,” Jesper explains.
The new rooftop terrace has been named Oasen (The Oasis) and will be officially inaugurated on Saturday, June 28. But if you can’t wait, there’s a sneak preview already on Friday – everyone is welcome.

Perfect for summer
MigogAalborg got an exclusive sneak peek of the new terrace, and Oasen truly lives up to its name.
We visited on a day when the temperature was only 18 degrees, but stepping into Oasen felt like traveling 1000 km south.
“It’s perfect for the Danish summer. It actually gets almost too warm at 25 degrees, but we’re working on a solution to provide shade when the sun gets too intense,” Jesper says.

You completely forget you’re in the middle of the city. On the large wooden terrace, there’s peace, views of charming townhouses – and not least a view of Salling Rooftop.
“We’re really happy with this addition. We want to show that we’re much more than just a coffee bar. Our latest menu additions also reflect that – filled croissants, fresh salads, and not least delicious cocktails that are a perfect match for this terrace,” says Jesper.

You’ll find the new rooftop terrace on the first floor of Kochs Kaffebar on Algade. You can also access the terrace via Roldgade by entering through this door:
