Here’s a new “secret” restaurant: Opening with delicious menu together with Aalborg bakery
The former premises of the popular Restaurant Menendez are getting new life – and it will be anything but boring.
While Menendez has moved into stylish new surroundings in Vesterå, the old location at Ved Stranden 7 has been transformed into an experimental food universe, where Aalborg residents can look forward to a very special pop-up experience.
“When you suddenly find yourself with an empty space in the middle of the city, what do you do?
If you know us, you know we love new ideas and opportunities,” says Kim Nam Jeppesen, owner of Nam and Menendez, to MigogAalborg.
And there’s no shortage of ideas.
Instead of letting the space sit empty, over the next few months it will become a playground for Kim Jeppesen and his team, where new concepts, collaborations, and taste experiences will be tested.
It will be experimental, unpredictable, and above all, delicious for the people of Aalborg.

First stop: The ultimate banh mi
To kick off the pop-up adventure, the team is going back to its roots.
Kim Nam Jeppesen is half Danish, half Vietnamese, so it makes perfect sense to start with Vietnam’s iconic street food classic: the banh mi.
But this is no ordinary version.
The team calls it “the ultimate banh mi”, packed with flavor:
Juicy Vietnamese BBQ pork, authentic Vietnamese sausage, spiced pâté, and smashed xiu mai meatballs.
On top of that comes all the crispy, fresh elements – cucumber, chili, coriander, pickled daikon and carrot, lime mayo, and not least a secret sauce.
It’s a generous portion: one large, filling banh mi, plus a cookie and a drink of choice for DKK 125 per person.

Award-winning Aalborg bakery on board
Naturally, the bread plays the leading role – and here Vejgaard Bageren has joined as a partner.
They provide a crispy, airy baguette, tailored to the banh mi experience – and as an extra treat, a deluxe cookie with chocolate and salted caramel.
Vejgaard Bageri is known as one of Aalborg’s very best bakeries.
A few years ago, they were even named Best Bakery in North Jutland.
The cozy bakery is also known for the near-constant line outside – proof that it’s one of the city’s most popular spots for bread and cakes.
Now, they’re ready to deliver their part of this delicious menu in both the bread and the dessert.
How you can try it
The concept is simple.
You buy a ticket, which secures you a package with two banh mi, two cookies from Vejgaard Bageren, and two drinks – all for DKK 250.
There are only 250 tickets available per day, so you’ll need to be quick.
