New sushi restaurant opens: All-you-can-eat with views of Kildeparken
On Monday, September 21, Aalborg’s food scene will get a new addition.
Sushi restaurant um will serve all-you-can-eat sushi and sides, as well as delicious cocktails with a view of Kildeparken.
The new restaurant is backed by Podium at Aalborg Congress & Culture Centre (AKKC).
When Restaurant um opens its doors towards Kildeparken, guests can look forward to a wide selection of freshly rolled sushi, hot Asian-inspired dishes and delicious sides – all included in the all-you-can-eat concept.
Try the new restaurant before everyone else with MigogAalborg
For the eighth year in a row, we are joining forces with several of Aalborg’s best restaurants to create the city’s biggest restaurant festival, which we call Aalborg Eat Out.
During the first two weeks after the restaurant opens, you can try the new restaurant as part of Eat Out and enjoy all-you-can-eat sushi and sides, including a welcome drink, for DKK 299.
Limited seats are available, so hurry and book here.
“The whole concept behind Restaurant um is that ‘eat as much as you want’ doesn’t have to mean compromising on quality. Not when it comes to the ingredients, preparation, service or atmosphere,” says Michel Lycoops, owner of Podium.
In that way, the new restaurant fits perfectly into both Podium’s portfolio, which in addition to Restaurant um includes Podium at AKKC, Aalborg Tower and Skydepavillonen, and AKKC’s ambitions.
“AKKC is known as the venue with many stages. With the addition of um, we now have another place where we can give our guests a truly special experience. I’m delighted that Michel and Jhen are opening yet another stage filled with quality,” says Nicolaj Holm, CEO of AKKC.
Next-level sushi experience with a view of Kildeparken
To specialise the restaurant in Asian cuisine, Podium has hired Jhen Cortez, a sushi chef and well-known face on Aalborg’s food scene.
Together, they have created a place where guests can sit back and be treated to dishes designed to be shared at the table, accompanied by specially selected drinks.
“At Restaurant um, sushi meets social dining. Coming here should be a cosy experience filled with togetherness and great flavours. The ambition with Restaurant um is to give our guests a next-level sushi experience full of great taste, cosiness and presence.
And, of course, there is plenty to choose from even if you’re not a sushi fan. Restaurant um is for everyone,” says Jhen Cortez, who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Restaurant um.
So there is a wow experience in store – both for sushi lovers and for those who would rather avoid the combination of raw fish, rice and seaweed.
Try it for just DKK 299 with Eat Out
The first two weeks after the restaurant opens are dedicated to the Aalborg Eat Out restaurant festival, where guests can enjoy all-you-can-eat sushi and sides, including a welcome drink, for DKK 299. Book here.

Podium lives on
Restaurant um is located on the ground floor of AKKC, with access both from Kildeparken and from AKKC’s main entrance at Europa Plads 4. While Restaurant um will serve sushi and sides every evening, Podium will continue to provide catering for meetings, trade fairs and conferences at AKKC.
Likewise, it will still be possible to enjoy cultural tapas before a show at Podium on the first floor of AKKC, while Podium will also continue to host private parties and corporate events on the first floor of AKKC.
