Couples wanted: New TV show to be filmed at IKEA Aalborg

Is this the ultimate IKEA test? We certainly think so.

This autumn, IKEA and Viaplay’s new home makeover show, “Who Wins the Home?”, will be moving into IKEA Aalborg.

The production team is now looking for couples, roommates, and cohabiting partners from North Jutland who disagree about their home décor.

Should the sofa be neutral or colorful? Should the home be practical or aesthetic?

And what do you do when one person dreams of calm and simplicity while the other wants color, character, and anything but beige?

If you and your partner, roommate, or housemate share big dreams for your home but cannot agree on how it should look, now is your chance.

The new home improvement show “Who Wins the Home?” will be filmed at IKEA Aalborg during weeks 46 and 47.

Participants will have just 24 hours to design their own version of a room for their shared home inside the IKEA store, withsupport and guidance from IKEA employees.

TV personality and influencer Carla Mickelborg will host the show, guiding the pairs through the competition and the disagreements that can arise when two different visions for a home must be combined into one.

At the end, customers in the store will vote for their favorite room.

The room that receives the most votes will then be recreated in the participants’ actual home.

The winner will only be revealed once the pair returns home.

Love and Compromise

For IKEA, the show is about demonstrating that a good home does not have to be perfect.

Everyday life, small compromises, and shared design decisions are what make a house feel like home.

“Every day, we meet customers in our store who have different ideas about how their homes should look.
Some agree quickly, while others need a few more rounds looking at sofas, wardrobes, and kitchen solutions.

Those conversations and small disagreements are exactly what make the program fun and relatable, and we look forward to seeing North Jutland couples take on the challenge here at IKEA Aalborg,” says Kim Østergaard Nielsen, Store Manager at IKEA Aalborg.

Want to Take Part?

The production team is now searching for couples, roommates, and cohabiting partners from North Jutland who would like to participate in “Who Wins the Home?”.

The most important requirement is that you live together and cannot quite agree on how a room in your home should be decorated.

Casting begins in early June 2026, and interested participants can apply via IKEA.dk/hvemvinderhjem.

To be considered, you must submit a short video introducing yourselves, explaining your home project, and describing the decorating disagreements you have at home. Remember to include your contact information.

“Who Wins the Home?” will premiere in 2027 and will be available on Viaplay and TV3.
