See the pictures: Catch Sushibar now opens in a new place in Aalborg

One of Aalborg’s most popular restaurants has now found itself a brand-new home.

After several years of fully booked tables and constant demand, Catch Sushi Bar has moved just a few meters down Vesterå — into the space that formerly housed the gourmet restaurant Tabu.

The new venue officially opens on Tuesday, November 4, and guests can look forward to more seating, a beautiful courtyard, and a significant upgrade in interior design.

From 79 to 120 seats

Catch has for years been among Aalborg’s busiest eateries, and its success has made it nearly impossible to get a table on weekends.

“We’ve barely been able to keep up with demand — which is a luxury problem, but also a sign that it was time to move,” says co-owner Vi Pham.

The new location at Vesterå 5 now accommodates 120 seats compared to the previous 79, and a new central bar has been added where guests can enjoy a glass of wine, sake, or a quick cocktail while waiting for their food.

Warm tones and Japanese elegance

Where Tabu once had a classic look with white tablecloths and abstract art on the walls, Catch has kept the intimate feel but added a more modern touch.

Warm tones on the walls, exposed brickwork, and soft lighting create a luxurious yet relaxed atmosphere that perfectly fits the restaurant’s popular sushi concept.

The space is divided into several sections featuring minimalist interiors, wooden tables, and subtle lighting.

If Catch’s wish was for more space, they’ve certainly gotten it.

“We wanted to create a place where you can enjoy either a quick lunch or a long evening with a wine menu and great atmosphere — without compromising on quality,” says Vi Pham.

In addition to more seating and a new bar, guests can also look forward to an entirely new courtyard with around 30 seats.

The soul remains the same

Even though the address is new, the team behind Catch promises that the concept will stay true to its roots.

“We’re making small upgrades to the wine menu and a few dishes, but it’s not a brand-new Catch — just an even better one,” says Vi Pham.

The old location across the street won’t be left empty, either.

“We have plans for a completely new concept there, which we’ll launch in the new year. It’ll be something entirely different from sushi,” she reveals.
