Aalborg gets Mr. Tandoori: Successful Indian restaurant expands
Do you also love a good Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, or Butter Paneer?
Then there is good news from Friis Street Food in Aalborg.
From Monday, 22 June, Mr. Tandoori will open the doors to a new stall serving authentic Indian cuisine.
And to celebrate the opening, guests will be able to enjoy the dishes at a special discounted price.
On opening day, the entire menu will be available at 50% off, and if you cannot make it that day, you can still receive a 15% discount on Tuesday, 23 June.
An indian favourite in Esbjerg
The concept is owned by Shahzaib Ali, who already operates a popular restaurant in Esbjerg.
Now he is expanding the business to Aalborg, where guests can look forward to traditional Indian dishes prepared entirely from scratch.
“Our restaurant at Street Food in Esbjerg is doing very well, so when I got the opportunity to open in Aalborg, I took it,” he says.
Shahzaib is working hard this week to get the new stall ready in Aalborg, although it will be his brother who oversees the day-to-day operations.

A tradition of Indian cooking through generations
Shahzaib and his brother inherited their passion for Indian cuisine from their family.
They have been helping in the kitchen since childhood.
“My family owned a restaurant in Malaysia where we served Indian food, so we have been helping out since we were very young.
Now I am continuing that tradition here in Denmark through my own restaurant,” he explains.
At Mr. Tandoori, all dishes are based on traditional Indian recipes. Everything is prepared from scratch, with carefully balanced spices to create authentic flavours full of depth and warmth.
Menu Favourites
For guests who are new to Indian cuisine—or simply want to sample a bit of everything—Shahzaib recommends one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes.
“Our Sharing Plate is very popular because it includes items from several different dishes, allowing people to taste a little of everything,” he says.
Another guaranteed crowd-pleaser is the classic Butter Chicken, which he also expects to become a favourite among diners in Aalborg.

Hoping for success in Aalborg
Shahzaib hopes that Aalborg residents will embrace Mr. Tandoori just as enthusiastically as customers in Esbjerg have.
“We are very popular in Esbjerg—I would probably say that we are the best Indian restaurant,” he says with a smile.
“So, of course, we hope for the same success here in Aalborg.”
Mr. Tandoori opens at Friis Street Food on Monday, 22 June, at 11:00 AM and will thereafter be open every day of the week from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
