Prepare to laugh: Renowned comedians featured at International Comedy Festival
Usually held only in Copenhagen, the Comedy Stop festival is coming to Aalborg for the first time this September!
The people of North Jutland will have a huge laugh when the popular international comedy festival, Comedy Stop, presents high-quality stand-up from September 5-8 at the Aalborg Congress & Culture Center (AKKC).
Four comedians have already been announced, and now the remaining names are revealed – including Conrad Molden, Sofie Hagen, and Abby Wambaugh.
The finest English stand-up
For the third consecutive year, Comedy Stop is ready to present some of the finest in English-language stand-up.
However, this year the popular international comedy festival is expanding, as it will make a ‘stop’ in Aalborg for the first time from September 5-8, 2024, as the only place in Denmark besides Copenhagen.
Earlier this year, AKKC revealed four of the festival’s comedians, including the Canadian actress and comedian Katherine Ryan, who will take the stage on Saturday, September 7th with her comedy show Battleaxe.
Now the final comedians are confirmed for the lineup, and the audience can look forward to experiencing Tom Ballard, Matt Bragg, and the festival’s opening show, The Comedy Store Gala.
Additionally, well-known comedians like Conrad Molden, Sofie Hagen, and Abby Wambaugh will also be appearing at the festival.
Renowned comedians on stage
Conrad Molden is the festival’s presenter, and he takes the stage with his critically acclaimed comedy show, “ÆØÅ”.
Having lived in Denmark for many years, it’s now the country he calls home.
Viewing Danes and the Danish language from an outsider’s perspective offers plenty of humorous material, and Conrad Molden has made it his specialty to make Danes laugh at themselves.
Conrad has previously visited AKKC with the same show, performing to two sold-out audiences.
So, if you missed the British comedian last time or simply wish to have a super duper lovely danglish evening in the company of Conrad Molden, now is your chance.
Even though she does English-language stand-up and lives in London, it doesn’t make the Danish comedian, author, and podcaster Sofie Hagen any less known in Denmark.
She won the Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for her debut show Bubblewrap, and has subsequently received high critical acclaim for her sold-out shows Shimmer Shatter, Dead Baby Frog, The Bumswing, and Fat Jokes.
She released her debut book Happy Fat in 2019 and is the creator and host of the highly successful podcast Who Hurt You, as well as a co-host on the BBC Sounds Original true crime podcast Bad People.
The American comedian, writer, and improviser Abby Wambaugh is a regular host and performer at comedy shows in Copenhagen and Britain.
Alongside Sofie Hagen, she co-hosts the promising podcast Help Hole, and is also a co-host of one of the top podcasts about life in Denmark, Coping in Copenhagen.
Abby Wambaugh holds a bachelor’s degree in humor and social change, so the people of North Jutland can prepare to have their funny bones tickled when she visits the festival.
The concept
The popular festival gathers a range of the most promising international stand-up acts who come to Denmark to entertain audiences with laughter for four days.
The festival consists of individual solo shows by each comedian, and tickets for each show are sold separately, allowing the audience to customize their perfect schedule throughout the festival.
The individual comedy shows take place across AKKC’s three stages – Aalborghallen, Europahallen, and Fakultetet – ensuring that laughter echoes through these venues over the course of four days.
