Price cuts ahead: Grocery chain lowers prices on more than 100 products
Danes Have Changed Their Shopping Habits
They have done it before.
And now they are doing it again.
As of Sunday, September 13, Lidl has permanently lowered the prices of more than 100 new products.
The supermarket chain announced this in a press release.
This means that Lidl now has more than 300 everyday products at permanently low prices, corresponding to more than one in ten products in its range.
“Permanent low prices have created more peace of mind in everyday life over the past four months and made it easier for customers to get more value and quality for their money. That is why we are now adding even more products to our permanently low-price range.
Our customers can continue to count on low prices – even when they need a product here and now,” says Georgios Tokatlis, Managing Director of Lidl Denmark.
In practical terms, this means that the price of organic Skagen pastries, for example, is falling from DKK 19.95 to DKK 14.95. A 750 ml bottle of Spanish extra virgin olive oil now costs DKK 49.95, compared with DKK 61.50 previously, while 100 g of Fairtrade chocolate is dropping from DKK 14.95 to DKK 9.95.
Smoked salmon is also getting a lower permanent price, falling from DKK 36.95 to DKK 29.95 per 100 g. On average, the products receiving a price reduction from September 13 will be more than 20 percent cheaper.
Danes have changed their shopping habits
A brand-new consumer survey conducted for Lidl shows that 26 percent of Danes have changed their shopping habits as a result of Lidl’s new pricing concept. Meanwhile, 63 percent say that permanently low prices can influence their choice of supermarket. Among Danes who are more concerned about their personal finances than they were a year ago, the figure is 72 percent.
“We simply want affordable prices to be available to everyone. Because it takes time, planning and energy to chase special offers. You do not always have that energy – whether you are a busy family with children or your finances are tight. We believe that everyone should be able to do their shopping at a permanently low price every day, while we still offer strong promotions,” says Georgios Tokatlis.
