Beautiful lunch in Aalborg: Popular restaurant reopens for lunch with new things on the menu

It’s that time again – the popular Aalborg restaurant is reopening for the lunch season.
And we know a lot of people have been looking forward to it.
But this year, the news doesn’t come alone. SMAEK is also introducing some exciting additions to their lunch menu.
Last week, they added a brand new selection of beautifully crafted smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches) to the menu.
The lunch menu now features both classic and reimagined smørrebrød at reasonable prices. A single piece starts at 85 DKK, while you can get three chef’s choice for 225 DKK.
Crispy plaice and steak with soft onions
You’ll find everything from the classic chicken salad, crispy fried plaice, and liver pâté with bacon and sautéed mushrooms, to more creative options like steak with soft onions, pepper mackerel with kimchi, and tomato salad with burrata.
Some are served on freshly baked rye bread, while others come on grilled white bread – depending on what pairs best with the luxurious toppings.

“I’ve been looking forward to bringing back our lunch service,” says Mikkel Jensen, owner of SMAEK, and continues:
“SMAEK is a restaurant that should be able to host guests both for lunch and dinner. In previous years, we stuck to classic café/bistro-style food for lunch, but now we’re trying something new. Smørrebrød is probably the most popular lunch you can have in Denmark and something I personally have a deep passion for.”
“I’m excited to hopefully welcome many guests on our sunny terrace to enjoy smørrebrød, beer, and schnapps now that the weather is starting to feel more like summer,” he adds.
You can enjoy lunch at SMAEK on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays up until June 1st.
After that, they’ll be serving lunch every day of the week.
