Sad news: Restaurant Tabu is closing permanently

Restaurant Tabu has long been recognized as one of the region’s absolute top restaurants.

But now the owners are throwing in the towel.

This was announced in a press release.

A combination of high operating costs, rising raw material prices, and declining guest numbers has led the owners to file for bankruptcy.

“Our fine dining restaurant’s results were moving in the wrong direction, and despite persistent efforts to change this, a rescue and continued operation was not possible,” says director Karsten Jensen.

Time for a new chapter for Miv and co.

Head chef Michael Miv Pedersen and his team will now focus their efforts on the summer restaurants, Restaurant Glashuset in Lønstrup, as well as the kitchen at Kallehavegaard Badehotel in Løkken, and not least the event and catering business, Skydebanen / Tabu Catering at Skydebanevej 50 in Aalborg.

“Of course, I’m sad at the thought of no longer creating precision dishes at Restaurant Tabu, where I have poured my heart and soul and countless hours over the past nearly nine years – a chapter that is now definitively closed.

I very much look forward to putting my energy into the summer venues and especially ‘Skydebanen,’ our event site right down by the Limfjord with the possibility of staying overnight in cozy small cabins, parties in the restaurant or in the large event tent, cooking over an open fire, and many other exciting activities.

In my private life, I’m an avid outdoors person, so the opportunities ‘Skydebanen’ offers will be combined with equal parts passion and culinary expertise.

I will continue working with quality ingredients, but in new ways, both in-house and off-site, and at a price most people can afford. Of course, still with the possibility of Private Dining, where I get to work with the small precision dishes I have worked on at Tabu. At the same time, I hope to establish a life with more family time with my three daughters at home,” says Miv.
