Results in 15 minutes: New Corona testing center opens in Aalborg

by Nathalia Hentze Nielsen

Outside of Aalborg Airport, citizens and businesses can now pay to have a COVID-19 test and get the results just 15 minutes later.

To give as many people as possible the opportunity to be tested and get a quick answer as to whether they currently have COVID-19, the assistance organization, SOS International, has opened a testing center by the airport in North Jutland.

The purpose is to give both locals and companies an option to avoid waiting times and get a fast and accurate result when it is necessary to know if an individual or their colleague is infected with COVID-19.

Supported by Aalborg Airport

As they wrote in a press briefing Tuesday morning, SOS International is using an antigen test – also called the rapid test – which can provide a result 15 minutes after the test is taken.

Airport Director Søren Svendsen views the test center as an opportunity to support the business community in a time where the pandemic presents challenges:

“We want to help society and businesses keep going.

It can be a big challenge for companies to go without their employees because they need to stay home while they wait to be tested and get the results,” Søren Svendsen says.

The test, which you can pay to access in the test center, will be performed by medical personnel from SOS International who has also chosen and purchased the testing equipment.

The test in question is the so-called antigen test where a swab is taken from the nose.

The test does not require laboratory work, which means that you’ll have the answer after 15 minutes.

The test results are reported to ‘Styrelsen for Patientsikkerhed’ (the Board for Patient Safety).

“We have done a lot of work to find the right manufacturer of the antigen test. It is important to us that the quality is high, and the test is accurate.

At the same time, we have made sure that the test is produced in Europe and is CE-marked,” Karin Tranberg, the Division Director at SOS International, explains.

Tests cost 375kr

The antigen test costs 375 kr, and this price is among the lowest on the market.

The testing center can be found at Aalborg Airport by the outermost parking lots. It is clearly marked with SOS International.

People are obligated to wear a facemask while in the testing center.

After the test, a Corona passport is delivered along with the test result.

The testing center at Aalborg Airport opens tomorrow, Wednesday, October 7.
