“Romkugle”, oreo, and s’mores: Café unveils wild Autumn hot chocolate
Back in 2021, Scandinavia’s oldest LGBT+ book café opened in a beautiful brick building on the corner of Maren Turis Gade and Ved Stranden – Buens Bogcafé.
In addition to being filled with everything your heart could desire in terms of culture and literature, where LGBT+ topics are the focus in one way or another, the café also offers many kinds of extravagant specialty hot chocolates and coffees.
Every season, Buens Bogcafé introduces a new coffee or hot chocolate that makes your mouth water.
And this season is no exception!
You can already visit the cozy little café and order three new types of specialty hot chocolate.
These flavors include Oreo, the summer classic S’mores, and the indulgent cake flavor – romkugle (Danish rum balls).
How does it taste?
Of course, we had to visit and try all three extraordinary new types of hot chocolate.
We sampled the Rum Bum Baller, Can I Have S’more Please, and The Opluent Oreo.
But how did they taste? Here’s what we thought.
Rum Bum Baller: If you’re a fan of rum balls, this one is for you! With the help of rum essence and blackberry syrup, you get a cup of hot chocolate that even your local bakery would be proud of.
It’s topped with whipped cream, cocoa powder, and colorful sprinkles.
It might have benefited from a little splash of real rum, but that would cater to a different audience entirely.
Can I Have S’more Please lives up to its name… You could easily drink another.
It’s like summer evenings by the campfire meeting a cold winter’s day of holiday coziness in one cup.
Naturally, it consists of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream, roasted marshmallows, crackers, and drizzled with chocolate sauce.
This is a more upgraded version of the classic hot chocolate with marshmallows.
The hot chocolate itself was full of flavor and perfect for the upcoming cold months, while still holding on to a bit of summer.
The Opluent Oreo also doesn’t disappoint.
On top, there’s a genuine Oreo cookie, which is almost worth the money alone.
Beneath that, you’ll find a thick layer of whipped cream that serves as a cozy blanket over the hot chocolate at the bottom.
The hot chocolate doesn’t immediately taste of Oreo, so if you (like us) foolishly devoured the cookie before starting on the drink, there wasn’t much chocolate cookie flavor left to enjoy.
All three varieties cost 62 DKK, with the option to choose between whole milk or oat milk.
Hurry over and indulge in the season’s new hot chocolates on a lovely autumn day.
