Sad news: Ambitious restaurant in Aalborg closes
The ambitions were sky-high last summer when the people behind major successes like Nam, Menendez, Applaus, and SMAEK opened Le Garçon at Ved Stranden 5 in Aalborg.
The inspiration came from the highly hyped “Bouillon” restaurants, based on the concept that dining out doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive.
Le Garçon originally opened as a pop-up restaurant, but after a great reception, it was decided to give the restaurant a permanent home in Aalborg.
But now it’s over.
In a press release, the owners announced that they have filed for bankruptcy with the Bankruptcy Court in Aalborg. The restaurant is therefore permanently closed and is history for Pulpo Brands.
Why it’s closing
Pulpo Brands is behind restaurants like Menendez, Nam, Applaus, SMAEK, and Dejavú.
But now they are giving up on the dream of continuing Le Garçon in Aalborg.

“We have had to realize that we no longer believe we can create a healthy business with Le Garçon.
Le Garçon has been a fun and educational journey, and a restaurant where we did a lot of great things.
Unfortunately, we have also — like many others — felt the consequences of inflation, the energy crisis, and the food crisis over the past few years.
We have tried to hold out as best we could, but have had to accept that the time had come to put an end to more adventures at Ved Stranden 5,” the owners state.
If you have a booking at the restaurant, you will be contacted directly. Gift cards for Le Garçon can still be used at Pulpo Brands’ other restaurants.
