Snowstorm: Police advise against unnecessary travel in Northern Jutland

by Nathalia Hentze Nielsen

Heavy snowfall, slippery roads, and several accidents on E45 mean that North Jutland Police now advise against all unnecessary travel in Northern Jutland.

There are reports of very slippery roads in Vendsyssel, and several crashed vehicles on E45, north of Hobro, completely blocking the highway in the northbound direction. This has caused a kilometer-long queue, where many drivers have already been stationary for a long time.

Particularly, one accident involving a crashed truck just north of the Hobro Nord exit is causing the queue. Police and rescue teams are on the scene but are waiting for machinery to move the vehicle blocking the highway.

Acting Vice Police Inspector Mads Hessellund says:

“It is especially in the southern part of the police district that we are currently experiencing problems. All available personnel and vehicles are deployed today, and we are addressing the challenges as they arise.

We know it is a really unpleasant situation for those sitting in their cars waiting out there. We urge people to remain calm and stay in their cars to avoid creating dangerous situations. We have staff on their way to check on those who have been waiting for a long time.”

Stay at home

“We are now at the point where we advise against all unnecessary travel. Darkness will soon fall, and potential accidents must already anticipate longer response times.

We currently have many calls to the emergency center. Call 114 if you need help – only use 112 if the situation is acute.”

North Jutland Police urge citizens to stay informed about cancellations and delays in public transport on the relevant websites.
