250 new restaurants on the way: Subway may be making a major comeback in Aalborg
One of the world’s largest fast-food chains has had a turbulent presence in Aalborg in recent years.
Earlier this year, a comeback seemed likely when a franchisee reopened in the premises on Østerågade.
But it quickly closed again.
Now, there’s good news for everyone who loves footlongs and crispy cookies.
According to a press release, Subway is ready for a major comeback in Denmark.
It will come with new management, new stores, and an updated look.
Over 250 new Subways on the way
Subway has signed a new Nordic agreement with Nordic Bites Group Oy, which will now be responsible for developing and operating all of the chain’s restaurants in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
This means that Subway plans to open over 250 new restaurants in the Nordic countries by 2032 – many of them in Denmark.
“Subway is a fantastic addition to the Danish food scene,” says Dorte Gleie, who has just been appointed as the new Country Manager in Denmark.
“We’re starting with a double-digit number of new restaurants and expect to create several hundred jobs,” she adds in the press release.
It is not yet official where Subway will open its restaurants in Denmark, but with a double-digit number planned, they will surely look toward the Aalborg market.
All new restaurants will feature a new design with more focus on digital ordering and a more modern atmosphere.
