The brilliant pizzas are back: La Bottega has moved in at a popular dining spot

Many of us were far from happy when Carlo Liberati announced before Christmas that they were closing the delicatessen La Bottega in Brix’s yard.

Fortunately, they quickly announced that they would be making a comeback in collaboration with Fru Søgaard and Hr. Søgaard.

And today is finally the day when Carlo Liberati starts crafting one decadent pizza after another, filled with the quality ingredients you know from La Bottega.

Of course, we had to stop by and take a closer look.

A strong partnership

It may not immediately seem obvious that Carlo Liberati would move in with Mr. and Mrs. Søgaard, who Aalborg residents know for their beer, coffee, and delicious baked goods.

But actually, it all fits together really well – in fact, as well as pizza and beer.

“We think pizza fits really well here, and of course, we know Carlo. It just made perfect sense, and we have space for a lot of hungry guests.

Why not team up?” says Claus Søgaard, who runs Søgaards with his wife, Lisa.

Claus is not alone in this opinion. For Carlo, it’s also been a positive partnership.

“We all want to do our best, and there’s room for me to do it the way I’m used to. So, it works really well.”

408-kilo pizza oven

At Søgaard, they’ve removed some items from the menu to make room for various types of pizza, served in the evening, and four types of focaccia, served for lunch. Both are made by Carlo Liberati in a large pizza oven imported directly from Italy.

Yes, a 408-kilo Italian pizza oven, which wasn’t exactly easy to get into the kitchen. But all the work has definitely been worth it.

The result is the most delicious pizzas, with a crust that’s both soft and crispy. The toppings are tasty and fresh, and there’s plenty of them. Perfect with a good beer.

The pizzas start at 165 DKK, but you’ll definitely leave both full and with a richer food experience.
