Three new arrivals: Shoppen expands with food, fashion and design
Things are getting busy at Shoppen in Aalborg.
Tomorrow, Thursday, no fewer than three new places will open on the same day – bringing something for dessert lovers, fashion shoppers and even those looking for upcycled furniture.
The three openings are well-known ice cream shop Iskompagniet, Swedish fashion chain Lager 157 and the more unusual retail concept A New Story.
Ice cream, quality coffee and sweet treats
One of the new arrivals is Iskompagniet, which has already built a strong following in Aalborg with its shop in Slotsgade.
Now the North Jutland ice cream maker is moving into Shoppen as well, with more than just ice cream on the menu.
Customers will also be able to get a cup of quality coffee for just DKK 25.
The menu includes classics as well as hot and cold drinks such as flat whites, iced coffee and chai lattes.
And, of course, there will also be Iskompagniet’s homemade Italian gelato, Belgian waffles, chocolate-coated marshmallow treats and truffles.
Popular Swedish fashion chain moves in
Over the past few weeks, Lager 157 has been building anticipation for its arrival in Aalborg with a prize wheel at Shoppen.
Visitors have been able to win everything from jeans and T-shirts to caps, socks and bags.
Now the wait is over, and tomorrow Lager 157 will open its first store in Aalborg.
The Swedish fashion chain is moving into the former H&M premises, giving it around 2,400 square metres of space.
The store will offer clothing for the whole family, including womenswear, menswear and childrenswear, as well as shoes and accessories.
Lager 157 is particularly known for denim, basics and low prices, and from Thursday Aalborg shoppers will be able to explore the new store for the first time.
To mark the occasion, the opening will take place at the rather specific time of 3:07pm.
Upcycling and office furniture – with a twist
The third opening is a very different kind of retail concept.
A New Story is opening a TRUST Shop, where there will be no staff waiting behind a counter.
Instead, the concept is based on self-service and trust.
Customers can browse the shop on their own, looking at items including cushions, fashion and furniture, and take as much time as they like without being interrupted.
Some of the products are made from leftover materials and upcycled items.
If customers find something they want to buy, payment is made via MobilePay.
A New Story opens at 10am and will initially operate as a pop-up until the end of the year.
It will be a busier Thursday than usual at Shoppen, with all three new places opening their doors on the same day.
The first openings begin at 10am Friday, September 10, at Shoppen, Vandmanden 5A, 9200 Aalborg.
