Traffic changes ahead: Busy city street to close for two days
Cyclists in Prinsensgade will soon get a smoother ride.
Next week, new asphalt will be laid on the cycle paths along the busy road, which means roadworks are moving in.
As a result, the street will be closed to both motorists and cyclists for two days, while bus routes will also be diverted.
The work will take place on Monday and Tuesday, August 24–25, 2026.
It includes removing the existing asphalt, replacing and adjusting drains and manhole covers, laying new asphalt and adding fresh road markings.
Parking ban
Pedestrians will be directed to the pavement on the side where work is not taking place on the adjacent cycle path.
There will also be a parking ban along the entire stretch during the works.
Motorists are therefore asked to move their cars before Monday morning so the asphalt contractor can carry out the work.
Traffic will be diverted via Boulevarden, Vingårdsgade and Vesterbro.
The work will take place during daytime hours to avoid disturbing residents at night with noise from asphalt machines and road rollers.
Any changes to the schedule will be posted on the municipality’s Asphalt Works 2026 page.
