Tucked away in the city center and often closed off to visitors, the old Aalborg (Monastery) is now opening their doors for the Christmas season.

The monastery is hosting two Christmas markets this coming weekend. A rare event in an extraordinary location.

The market will open from Saturday, December 11, to Sunday, December 12, between 10:00-16:00.

As the organizers write on Facebook the Christmas market is “at a historic location in the heart of Aalborg.”

Meet 30 talented designers and artists

You can meet 30 talented designers and artists at the Christmas market while checking out where the Churchill Club hid their weapons during World War II.

There will be a variety of artistry ranging from ceramic, glass, jewelry, bronze and iron sculptures, wood art, poster or plaques, paper or collages, silk, flowers, and home décor.

The Christmas market is a place to find unique and beautiful handcrafted gifts.

There is also a possibility to win some fantastic artwork.  There is a competition for a signed, numbered poster and two signed art books by the world-renowned Danish artist Ole Aakjær.

Entry is free on both days.
