Rib Roast and Pulled Duck: Café is ready with lavish Christmas burgers

by Shellie Boudreau

Christmas in Aalborg wouldn’t be the same without lavish Christmas burgers.

The legendary Restaurant VB launched their wild roast pork burger while Grillen Burgerbar is ready with their Christmas classic Grill de Canard.

Another popular café is joining in on the festive fun and aims to add its creation to the list of ultimate Christmas burgers.

Café Spiret is known for its fantastic brunch and has won the “best of” award three years in a row.

But this Christmas, the lunch and evening menu is where they are focusing all their Christmas cheer – specifically with three Christmas novelties

“We would like to pamper our guests and thank them for all their support in  2022 by offering three delicious Christmas dishes,” the owner Mads Brix says.

Guarantee for crispiness

The first novelty on the menu is a Pulled Duck Burger loaded with duck, freshly cut red scallions, pickled red onions, and pickled cucumbers. The combination is presented on a sourdough bun with a nice spread of aioli and orange relish.

There is a beautiful balance between the fatty duck meat and the pickled red onions, cucumbers, and fresh orange relish.

If you are really into pork, we suggest you choose Spirets’ Ribbensburger. This is our personal favorite.

The burger is a classic rib roast burger. However, it’s served with homemade red cabbage and pickled cucumbers in a brioche bun smeared with mustard mayonnaise.

But there is an extra brilliance in the burger creation.

The meat is incredibly tender, while the rind is exceptionally crunchy!

In preparation for this novelty, the meat is given an extra round on the hot grill. The result is a perfect combination of classic roast pork and roast pork rinds.

Lest we forget, there is pickling too. The pickling of the red cabbage cleverly brings in Christmas spices, crispness, and a sour kick to balance naturally fatty meat.

Are you watching your waistline?

If you have a dress or a suit that you look forward to wearing this Christmas Eve then fear not. You can choose the slightly healthier Christmas novelty from Spirets’ menu.

Go for the  Pulled Duck Salad, which is a lighter option.

Maybe you are thinking: “Salad?! That sounds bloody boring … and a bit too healthy?”

We were pleasantly surprised by this particular salad. Complimented with plenty of buttery duck and fresh and sour flavors there is a nice play between pomegranates and blood orange pearl textures. Yummy.
